Our Story
Wheely Bike Tours has been guiding visitors through Shanghai since 2008, and the story behind it starts a little earlier. In 2006 Bike Around Shanghai began leading small groups through the city's lanes, and in 2014 the two Dutch companies merged under the Wheely name. Twenty years on, what began as a passion project has grown into Shanghai's premier bicycle tourism company, offering unique and immersive local experiences through the city's diverse neighborhoods. Ownership has changed hands a few times since, but the character has not: small groups, real neighborhoods, and guides who live in the neighborhoods you ride through.
Our team of trained guides are passionate, well-traveled locals eager to share their love for this incredible city. They know all there is to know about Shanghai: its fascinating history, rapid development, and the way people spend their daily lives in this vast metropolis.
Each tour is thoughtfully designed with a specific theme, ensuring a memorable adventure. Tours are conducted in English, and our guides also speak Chinese.
